The yarn winder at a texturizing machine, to wind the running yarn (1) on to a bobbin (2), has a guide (20) to lead the loose yarn end at the bobbin into a holder at the bobbin. At the yarn winder, the guide for the loose yarn end is an air jet, connected to a compressed air supply (23), to deliver an air stream directed at the yarn holder. The jet has a slit opening to form a fan-shaped air stream. The air jet is placed between the yarn suction trap (13) and the bobbin doffing position, so that the jet air stream strikes the bobbin. A second air jet can be connected to the same compressed air supply, near the cutting blade (15) to sever the yarn. It delivers an air stream across the direction of yarn travel, between the bobbin and the cutting blade, shortly before the yarn is cut. The second jet has a point jet opening, to deliver a bundled air stream. The jet opening is on a plane over the suction opening (14), for the air flow to move over and across the suction opening. The air supply to the jets is through a valve unit (22), operated by the doffing control (19).
