<p>A touch panel device in which vibrating elements each having an IDT and a piezoelectric film and adapted to generate surface acoustic waves having an intrinsic center frequency are provided along one edge of a nonpiezoelectric substrate, receiving elements each having an IDT and a piezoelectric film and adapted to receive the surface acoustic waves are so provided along the other edge of the nonpiezoelectric substrate as to be opposed to the vibrating elements, the center frequency of the IDT of any one of the vibrating elements is equal to that of the opposed receiving element, the center frequency of any of the vibrating elements is different from that of the adjacent vibrating element, an acoustic wave is propagated between the opposed vibrating and receiving elements though the nonpiezoelectric substrate, and the position of an object brought into contact with the nonpiezoelectric substrate is determined based on the result of reception by the receiving elements.</p> |
