A method and apparatus for recording AV information, which facilitates information editing without making a copy of the information and saves data recording areas. When main information is recorded, the recording apparatus produces an original file that contains link information in which address information for reproduction in a recording area of a recording media exists in sequence, and a virtual file derived by editing the original file. These files are used when the information is reproduced.
