Piezoelectric ceramic powder blank comprises a layered compound based on bismuth containing Sr, Bi, Nb and oxygen. The following mole ratios of Sr, Bi and Nb (a: b: c) apply: 0.275 <= a/c 0.5 and 4 <= (2a + 3b)/c <= 4.5. An Independent claim is also included for a piezoelectric ceramic component comprising a piezoelectric ceramic powder blank and an electrode formed on the blank.
