The machine vice has a fixed jaw and a movable jaw with a tension shaft to actuate it. The shaft has a support bearing on which the movable jaw can travel via a pressure shaft. The movable jaw (4) can be adjusted to different spacings to the fixed jaw (3) and locked by the pressure shaft using clamps (35). The pressure shaft has top surfaces, in which the opposing face of he movable jaw or the movable support can engage.
