Apparatus (1) delivers a mixture of water (2) and fluent substance (12) contained in injector unit (11) to crop (10) by way of pipes (7, 8) and discharge units (9). Injector unit (11) is mounted to duct (6) and includes an injection system for injecting substance (12) into water (2) flowing through duct (6). Non-return valve (13) prevents the mixture contaminating water (2) stored in tank (3). Substance (12) comprises fertiliser, insecticide, weedicide, herbicide or fungicide, and discharge units (9) comprise spray heads or dripper outlets. Injector unit (11) includes a pump for pumping substance (12) from receptacle (14). The pump includes a piston axially displaceable within receptacle (14), with the piston being displaced by compressed gas or by a motor rotating a shaft. The motor is controlled by an automatic timer or a computer.
