An apparatus is remotely controlled well by using a radio transmission network such as the Bluetooth. When a command and its response in a predetermined format are transmitted between first and second apparatuses in a network, an inquiry command for inquiring whether or not the second apparatus can be controlled by a predetermined command of the first apparatus transmitted through a first channel in the network from the first apparatus to the second apparatus or which application the second apparatus is adapted to. The second apparatus sends a response to the inquiry command. Therefore an apparatus can readily know the function of another apparatus.
