The method involves sampling the speed of the blood flow through a coronary sinus of the patient's heart (8) and detecting a heart state depending on the sampled blood flow, including the detection of an ischaemia heart ailment, a heart muscle infarction and closure of a coronary artery. The rate of change of the speed of blood flow can also be computed.
