A valve lift adjusting device, comprising an inner tappet energized toward a low lift cam installed on a cam shaft rotationally driven in synchronous with the rotation of an internal combustion engine, an outer tappet installed on the outside of the inner tappet and energized toward a high lift cam, and a projected member projected at at least one or more positions and a rotating member rotatable relative to the circumferential directions of the inner and outer tappets and having an engagement part with the projected member, both provided on the outer periphery of the inner tappet, whereby a relative sliding of the inner tappet to the outer tappet in axial direction is limited or allowed depending on the rotation of the rotating member within a specified range.
