An energy and water saving pasteurizer capable of maintaining a stable temperature distribution pattern even when transfer works are interrupted during the operation, or a tunnel type refrigerator (10) allowing hot works such as bottles and cans filled with the products sterilized at a high temperature to be carried in by a conveyor (50a) and gradually cooling the products from a high temperature of generally 75 DEG C to a low temperature of generally 25 DEG C, wherein a plurality of cooling tanks (11a, 12a, 12b, 12c, 12d, 13a, 13b) are disposed in a row from the upstream side to the downstream side so as to form a first cooling area (11), an intermediate cooling area (12), and a final stage cooling area (13), a suction refrigerating machine (19) is installed between the first cooling area (11) and the final stage cooling area (13), and a cooling tower (20) is installed in the intermediate cooling area (12).
