The invention relates to a method for reprofiling wheel discs (7) or brake discs of a train wheel or wheel set (6) that is rotatably mounted in bearing housings (9), by machining the same using a mobile machine tool (12). According to said method, the periphery of a wheel disc (7) of a train wheel or wheel set (6) is pressed by a clamping organ (14, 15), which engages with at least one bearing housing (9), against supporting rollers (16). At least one of said rollers (16) causes the train wheel or wheel set (6) to revolve, while at the same time a tool (20) machines one of the wheel (7) or brake discs. The invention also relates to a machine tool (12) for carrying out said method.
