Plastic film forming method for mass production of infra-red ear thermometer covers involves punching holes a plastic plate and thermoforming a plastic film through the holes

Holes(111) are punched in a plastic plate(11) and an IR(infra-red) permeable plastic film is placed on the plate to cover the holes. Melting of the plastic film adheres it to the plate surface. The film is then pressed through the holes to produce covers protruding from the plastic plate. Finished covers are then cut from the plastic plate by cutting around the holes such that an annular plastic rim is left in contact with each cover. An Independent claim is made for a probe cover for an IR thermometer used in the ear which comprises a plastic film cover with a smooth closed end and a smooth wall which make close contact with the measuring probe of the thermometer.
