An aqueous solution of an antioxidant is obtained by the following steps: (1) the seed culture step for obtaining a seed culture medium of a photosynthetic bacterium; (2) the preculture step for obtaining a preculture medium by pre-culturing the above seed culture medium in the presence of an antioxidant under anaerobic and bright conditions; and (3) the main culture step of effecting the main-culture of the above preculture medium, to which a substrate has been optionally added, in the presence of an antioxidant under aerobic and dark conditions until the cells are inactivated and then adjusting the liquid culture medium to pH 6.4 to 6.6.
