Monitoring dissolved gases in fluid filled, high voltage units, which comprise a closed separating chamber connected to a fluid tank, comprises interrupting the pumping of fluid, in order to disturb the equilibrium between the liquid and gaseous states, and raise the pressure in the separating chamber. A gas sample is removed from the space above the fluid for analysis.
