The system has at least one electric motor assisting steering subjected to a minimum current and hence producing a minimum force that is slightly smaller than the sum of the forces of friction and inertia of the electric motor. The electric motor acts on a drive element via a gearbox and is integrated into a steering actuator (6) that interacts with the steered wheels (7).
