The cover (10) pivots round an axis at right angles to the upward opening of the sidewalls, the axis set above lid height of the inserted dustbin (7). On the far side of the pivot axis as viewed from the leading edge (11) of the cover, a tie connects to the bin lid and the slotted guide link (16) runs far enough back to the rear of the body of the housing so when the cover is pivoted, the roller (31) rides the guide (16) to raise up the bin lid by way of the tie link. The housing sidewalls (3,4) are protended above the bin lid height to form a cowl shape in so doing (13). The forward part of the cowl is designed as desk top or roll shutter to be closed off by the suitably contoured dustbin lid.
