<p>The present invention relates to a controlled release article which contains one or more active agents. The active agent can be an algaecide, fungicide and/or a fire retardant. The article can be a film, strip or straw. It can be incorporated into a thatched roof. By using active agents that are particularly suited for the problem, the roof can be protected against fires and attacks by algae, etc. resulting in a roof which not only looks better but which will also need less repair. A preferred material for making the article is a combination of a (synthetic) polymer and starch.</p> |
