A shampoo composition for removing minute chemicals deposited on the skin, softening the hair, giving a rinsing effect and controlling dandruff and itch on the scalp is provided.Said composition comprises (a) 0.05-5.0% by weight of an essential oil component selected from the group consisting of terpene esters and terpene hydrocarbons, (b) 3.0-20% by weight of an N-acylamino acid salt and (c) 0.1-15.0% by weight of a sucrose fatty acid ester or a C6-C18 fatty acid alkylolamide.
