PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a top coating composition which gives a coating film having high hardness and excellent in weatherability and processability. SOLUTION: The top coating composition contains, based on 100 pts.wt. nonvolatile constituent, (a) 10-70 pts.wt. polyester polyol resin containing a phthalic acid skeleton and/or a maleic acid skeleton, and a methylene structure in the main chain respectively in amounts of 2-3.2 mol and 7-15 mol per kg of the resin and made by using a dihydric alcohol represented by formula (1) (wherein R1 and R2 are each a 2-20C alkyl) as a raw material, (b) 3-40 pts.wt. curing agent having a functional group capable of reacting with a hydroxyl group, and (c) 10-70 pts.wt. pigment and/or filler.
