PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermal transfer recorder and a cleaning method for an intermediate medium producing a defect-free image containing no dye contaminant nor foreign matter by solving a problem that the intermediate medium may be contaminated with dust or dye and an image obtained finally on an image receiving body may be contaminated with dust or dye in a recording process where the image receiving layer of an image receiving layer transfer body is transferred temporarily onto the intermediate medium, an image is recorded on the transferred image receiving layer and then the image receiving layer recorded with an image is further transferred onto a final image receiving body. SOLUTION: In addition to standard process of forming an image receiving layer on an intermediate medium, recording an image onto the intermediate medium, and transferring the image receiving layer from the intermediate medium onto an image receiving body, the thermal transfer recorder and the cleaning method for the intermediate medium comprises a cleaning process of forming an image receiving layer on an intermediate medium and transferring the image receiving layer from the intermediate medium onto an image receiving body, or means or process for cleaning the intermediate medium through the same cleaning process using a cleaning layer transfer body. |
