PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic solvent based coating composition capable of forming a cured coating film which is excellent in weatherability and stain resistance and from which contaminants can be readily removed, and a method of forming a multilayer coating film by using it. SOLUTION: The coating composition contains (A) a colloidal dispersion obtained by reacting a resin (A-1) having an alkoxysilyl group and an epoxy group and/or a hydroxyl group in the molecule with fine colloidal particles (A-2) of an inorganic oxide, and (B) a resin having an acid anhydride group and/or carboxyl group.
