PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a body side structure for a vehicle, capable of transmitting smooth impact load from a front pillar to a body rear portion without causing the complication of the structure and the increasing weight of a body. SOLUTION: The front pillar 10 having a front pillar outer 15 and a front pillar inner 11 and a side rail 20 having a side rail outer 25 and an side rail inner 21 are connected to each other, and a flange 23a in a front range 21A of the side rail inner 21 is held between flanges 17a, 13a of the front pillar outer 15 and the front pillar inner 11 and inserted in the front pillar 10. In the front pillar 10, an inner face portion 22 is gradually separated from an inner face portion 12 of the front pillar inner 11 as tending to a front end 21a. The section modulus of the front pillar 10 is gradually increased as tending to the side rail 20, inhibiting the occurrence of rigidity discontinuity.
