PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coating the surface of a wood-like formed article which can produce the surface of the formed article having a woody appearance with the number of manufacturing processes reduced and the molding. SOLUTION: The method is provided with a coloring process in which the surface 10 of the wood-like formed article 1 is coated with a colored coating 2 to be colored, a polishing process in which the applied coating 2 is polished to form unevenness 21 on the surfaced of a part coated with the coating 2, and a finishing process in which the polished surface is coated with a transparent or translucent finish coating.
