<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce pressure loss in an absorption tower, to prevent dry-up of solid material in a spray liquid at an entrance part of the absorption tower and/or to reduce pressure loss and mist scattering amount at an exit part of the absorbing tower. SOLUTION: Guide plates for liquid flowing down 11a to 11c having a shape, by which an absorption liquid in the absorption tower flows down by avoiding an opening of an entrance duct 2 and/or an opening of an exit duct or flows down above the opening in a horizontal direction intermittently at several points, are arranged at a sidewall above an opening of the adsorption tower Curtain- shaped spray liquid is not formed at the opening of the entrance duct 2 of the absorption tower and/or at the opening of the exit duct thereof and thereby pressure loss in the absorption tower 1 can be reduced. Further in the absorption tower of a two-chamber type wet flue gas desulfurizer, there is a guide plate for liquid flowing down at an upper part of the exit duct and thereby a curtain- shaped liquid film part is not formed at a turning part from a flowing down stream region of the absorption tower to the exit duct.
