PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small paper sheet delivering device for delivering paper sheets shortly and accurately. SOLUTION: A paper sheet delivering means 4 disposed in a paper conveying passage 3 comprises a separation roller means 8 consisting of a drive roller 6 disposed on the forward end side of a contained paper sheet A and separating double feed paper sheets A; and a conveying roller 9 disposed downstream at a given distance from the separation roller means 8 and rotated at a peripheral speed higher than that of the drive roller 8. A double feed detecting means 11 consists of a sensor disposed in a position where the conveying roller 9 is disposed. Double feed of paper sheets A is detected by the double feed detecting means 11, and when after a lapse of a given time starting from the detection, double delivery of the paper sheets A is not detected by the double feed detecting means 11, drive of the paper sheet delivering means 11 is continued without driving a paper sheet recovering means, and the paper sheets A are fed.
