SHOCK ABSORBER WITH VEHICLE HEIGHT ADJUSTING FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the vehicle height by quickly raising a temperature of a thermal refrigerant, and to adjust this vehicle height by using a simple vehicle height detecting mechanism. SOLUTION: This shock absorber is provided with a magnet 21 composed of a thin rubber magnet and a reed switch 18 respectively oppositely arranged in one and the other of the cylinder 1 side and the piston rod 2 side and a pressure chamber 17 formed between a cylinder 1, a piston rod 2 and a case 6 and housing a pressure medium. An electric current is supplied to a heater 16 by operation of the reed switch 18 by the magnet 21 at vehicle height lowering time to be heated. The pressure medium is heated and expanded by this heat to increase medium pressure in the pressure chamber 7 so that the cylinder 1 and the piston rod 2 are relatively displaced in the vehicle height rising direction.
