PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce N/2 artifacts and bloodstream artifacts without sacrificing imaging time and S/N in an image picking-up method using multiple echoes. SOLUTION: A magnetic resonance imaging instrument is provided with a transmission coil 2 which generates an RF pulse to a subject existing in a static magnetic field, a gradient coil 3 which generates a gradient magnetic field pulse, and a sequence control section 10 which excites the nuclear spin of the subject one time with the RF pulse and, continuously, controls the coils 2 and 3 to continuously generate a plurality of echoes. The imaging instrument is also provided with a plurality of independent reception coils 41 and 42 which receive the echoes and a computer 12 which generates a plurality of odd numbered images respectively corresponding to the reception coils 41 and 42 based on the odd numbered echoes contained in the received echoes, a plurality of even numbered images respectively corresponding to the coils 41 and 42 based on the even numbered echoes contained in the received echoes, a first image by synthesizing the plurality of odd numbered images based on the plurality of sensitivity distributions of the coils 41 and 42, and a second image by synthesizing the plurality of even numbered images based on the sensitivity distributions.
