PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drastically improve the operational efficiency by automatically cleaning a kneader to prevent caking after kneading is finished. SOLUTION: In the cleaning method of this invention, the raw material supplied to a raw material supply part in a fixed amount is transferred to a feed water mixing part, and the raw material fed to the mixing part is supplied with a fixed amount of water and transferred toward the discharge port at a kneaded material discharge part. When the operation is finished, the discharge port is closed, water is fed into a raw material transfer casing to rotate a driving shaft, and the inside of the casing is cleaned. Meanwhile, in the kneader directly used in the cleaning method and provided with the raw material supply part, feed water mixing part, kneading part kneaded material discharge part, a pinch valve is disposed in the kneaded material discharge part for closing the kneaded material discharge port when the inside of the casing is cleaned by feeding water thereinto and rotating the driving shaft after completion of kneading.
