PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a viscosity index improver showing an excellent shear stability. SOLUTION: A polymer obtained by introducing 1,500 pts. toluene, 8075 pts. dodecyl methacrylate, 425 pts. methyl aryl ether, 400 pts. benzyl phenyldithiocarbamate and 200 pts. azobisvaleronitrile, subjecting them to nitrogen substitution and carrying out polymerization reaction for 4 hr at 85 deg.C under a sealed condition, is used as the viscosity index improver. |
