PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which a test pattern optimal for deciding whether an normal operation is carries out or not is selected automatically upon occurrence of a state change, e.g. replacement of an unit or elimination of trouble, at each section. SOLUTION: A printer 100 comprises a section 21 for detecting a state change at each section, a section 23 storing the image data of a plurality of test patterns, and a section 22 for selecting the image data of a test pattern corresponding to a state change detected at the state detecting section 21 among the image data for generating a test pattern stored at the data storage section 23. Upon occurrence of any state change, the printer 100 automatically selects and generate a test pattern corresponding to that state change. |
