PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem such that two systems, i.e., the manual one only by a handle and the motor-driven one only by a motor-driven machine exist independently for elevating/lowering an elevating/lowering base after placing a stretcher where the cared person is lying onto the elevating/lowering base in order to put the cared person into/out of the bathtub when the bedridden cared person is bathed in a conventional manner, that it takes much time to remarkably change the water depth of the elevating/lowering base to make a caring person fatigued in the manual system and that it is difficult to correctly stop the elevating/lowering base at the prescribed water depth in the motor- driven system. SOLUTION: The handle 1 to be manually operated is fixed to one end of a main shaft system to manually elevate/lower the elevating/lowering base 17. The base 17 is also elevated/lowered by the motor-driven machine 9 via a driven bevel gear 6 fixed to the other end of the main shaft system, a driving bevel gear 7 to be engaged with the driven bevel gear 6 and an electromagnetic clutch 8. Then advantages in the manual and motor-driven systems are respectively and effectively utilized.
