PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary shaft for a rotary joint facilitating the machining and having superior cooling efficiency. SOLUTION: This rotary joint is provided with a rotary shaft rotating a tool for a tool machine along with a fitted main spindle and feeding cooling medium to the rotating main spindle. This rotary joint is characterized in that the rotary shaft is provided with a coolant hole for introducing cutting fluid to the tool in its central part, a central shaft having a plurality of grooved passages in its outer face, an intermediate shaft fitting the central shaft to its inside diameter face and provided with a plurality of grooved passages in the outer face, and an outer shaft fitting the intermediate shaft to the inside diameter side.
