PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for continuously producing, in a high yield, an imide group containing copolymer which is excellent in thermal stability and color tone, and has a low total volatile content. SOLUTION: This method comprises the first step of continuous multi-step polymerization, the second step of continuous multi-step imide ring formation, and the third step of continuous evaporation of solvents.
