A pant-like absorbent garment (20) adapted for easy application and removal having refastenable side seams is provided. The refastenable side seams extend from a waist opening (50) to each of two leg openings (52) between a front panel (34) and a back panel (134). Each of the refastenable side seams comprises first and second fastening components (82) and a mating fastening component (84), each of which may comprise either a hook or loop material. The mating fastening component (84) comprises two separate pieces of material (84a, 84b) bonded together to form a standing butt seam (88).
