890,103. Friction couplings ; Bowden mechanisms. GOLDE & CO. G.m.b.H., HANS TRAUGOTT, GOLDE, H., and LOFFLER, M., [trading as GOLDE G.m.b.H. & CO. KOMM.- GES., HANS TRAUGOTT.]. Jan. 27, 1959 [Jan. 28, 1958], No. 2918/59. Classes 80 (2) and 80 (3). Power or manually-driven apparatus for displacing a slidable structure, such as a car roof, comprises an electric motor, driving through a coupling 2a and worm 3, a worm-wheel 4 secured to a shaft 16 which drives, through a friction slip coupling comprising spring washers 6, 6a adjustably loaded by a nut 17, a freely mounted gear-wheel 5 meshing wheel 7 on a parallel shaft 8, carrying toothed wheels 11, 12 meshing helically ribbed guided cables 14, 15 which latter are thereby moved in opposite directions to slide the roof. The friction coupling 6 slips when the roof encounters excessive resistance, whereupon the motor may be switched off automatically, or when, for emergency manual operation, the shaft 8 is directly turned through a detachable handle 22 applied to a bevel pinion 20 meshing bevel teeth 19 on the wheel 7. The cable-drive wheels 11, 12 are frictionally clamped to their shaft 8 by a screw 13, slackening of which permits cable adjustment. |
