METHOD FOR ESTIMATING AND COMPENSATING CONTOUR MOTION OF OBJECT AND METHOD FOR CODING AND/OR DECODING CONTOUR USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A method for estimating and compensating a contour motion of an object and a method for coding and/or decoding a contour using the method are provided to reduce the amount of information to be coded so as to enable efficient coding. CONSTITUTION: Distances from a center point defined in an object to the contour of the object are obtained(150), starting from a predetermined direction and varying the direction by a predetermined angle. Distance information items from the center point to the contour are divided into predetermined sections, and motion estimation and compensation for the rotating motion are performed for the divided distance information items with reference to distance information previously reproduced. A difference between the motion-compensated distance information and distance information extracted from the previous image is coded. The coded contour information is decoded. A motion displacement value generated from the decoded result, previous contour information reproduced already and inverse-transformed difference of distance information are added up to generate final contour information.
