A mobile telephone 5 is connected to a computer 1 via a connector 4 having a recess to receive the telephone and an interface card 25 to interface with a serial port (e.g. a USB port) of the computer. The computer can issue control commands including switching ON/OFF to the phone and charging of the phone battery from the computer battery (19, fig 2) is based on the battery in the computer being charged to a voltage higher than a preset level detected using a voltage sensor (22, fig 2) in the interface card which activates battery charger (23, fig 2). There is also described voice recognition of stored phone numbers, an on screen display of the telephone and a facsimile transceiver. |
