A suspension insulator comprises metal fittings of the type claimed in the parent Specification, which have a suspension part 1, a part 3 embedded in the insulator, and arc arresting horns 4, and is made of a synthetic plastics material into which part 3 is moulded. The insulator has a helical shed 13 and may be coated with P.T.F.E. which volatilizes without leaving carbon tracks and renders the surface hydrophobic. The parts 3 embedded in the plastic are hook-shaped.</p> |
