PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device and a hanging device using the lighting device, which can be freely installed at any desired place without depending on its installation location. SOLUTION: A pole main body 10 comprises a first cylindrical pole section 11 and a second pole section 15 part of which is inserted into the first pole section 11. The amount of the projection of the second pole section 15 can be made variable by, for example, a screw thread device 16 provided between the internal surface of the second pole section 15 and the external surface of the first pole section 11. Part of the external surface of the first pole section 11 is opened to provide a storage section 12 in which a fluorescent lamp 21 is housed, a lighting circuit 23 is provided on the lower end of the first pole section 11 and the lighting device 20 is provided in the first pole section 11.
