PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the inner peripheral surface or outer peripheral surface of a machine part without unevenness after assembling a fitting member by finishing the inner peripheral surface or outer peripheral surface of the machine part, taking account of the deformation of the inner peripheral surface or outer peripheral surface of the machine part after assembling the fitting member. SOLUTION: A spindle tapered surface 12 is ground by a grinding wheel 13 after assembling a dummy ring 14 to the outer peripheral surface of a spindle 11. After the grinding of the spindle tapered surface 12 is completed, the dummy ring 14 is removed, and a bearing 15 is assembled to the spindle 11. Since the bearing 15 has the same interference and mechanical strength as the dummy ring 14, the spindle tapered surface 12 has no unevenness after assembling the bearing 15.
