PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel polymeric cushioning agent and an organic electroluminescent element having a driving voltage reduced by improvement of a cushioning layer of a hole transporting layer. SOLUTION: The polymeric cushioning agent comprises (A) poly(3,4) ethylenedioxythiophenes having a recurring unit represented by formula (1), wherein R6-R9 are each independently a group selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl, alkoxy, alkylamino, aralkyl, aryl, aryl heteroaryl and cyano groups; and any two of R6-R9 can be combined together to form a ring, and (B) polystyrene-based sulfonic acids having a recurring unit represented by formula (2), wherein R1 is hydrogen or a methyl group; R2 and R5 are each independently a group selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and an alkyl group; and X is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and an alkali metal. The organic electroluminescent element has a cushioning layer treated with the polymeric cushioning agent. |
