PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter cartridge in which the shortages of filtration life and water permeability or the generation of the materials loosened from the filter cartridge, which are the problems of the usual filter cartridge, are prevented. SOLUTION: This filter cartridge is obtained by winding a belt-like nonwoven fabric consisting of a thermoplastic fiber around a perforated cylindrical body in a twilled state. When the belt-like nonwoven fabric is wound in the twilled state, the winding number (W) of times necessary for winding the fabric around the cylindrical body from one end of the cylindrical body to the other end is made to be one to ten per 250 mm length of the cylindrical body. It is more preferable that the number (W) is selected from the numbers the denominators of which are 4-40 when the W-doubled numerical value (2W) is approximated to an irreducible fraction.
