NEW METALLOCENE CATALYST FOR POLYMERIZING STYRENE-BASED MONOMER, AND POLYMERIZATION METHOD UTILIZING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new metallocene catalyst having a siloxy group introduced to an auxiliary ligand of a half metallocene catalyst by reacting the half metallocene catalyst with a silicone compound having an active group of a hydroxy group. SOLUTION: This new metallocene catalyst is used with a cocatalyst for producing a styrenic polymer and a copolymer. When the new metallocene catalyst is used, the styrenic polymer excellent in stereoregularity, having the high melting point, and good in molecular weight and molecular weight distribution can be produced even with a small amount of the cocatalyst.
