摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent elution of an NOX occluding agent at the time of wash- coating a monolith base material with a catalytic component and the NOX occluding agent in the manufacture of an NOX occluding reducing type catalyst. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of an exhaust gas purifying catalyst containing at lest one kind of an alkali metal and an alkaline earth metal as the NOX occluding agent. NOX occluding agent is brought into contact with tartaric acid to be changed to the tartrate and the monolith base material is wash-coated with the tartrate. As a concrete form, the monolith base material is wash-coated with the NOX occluding agent and the catalytic component after the NOX occluding agent surrounded by the outside layer of the catalytic component is brought into contact with tartaric acid to be changed to the tartrate, after the NOX occluding agent particle mixed with the catalytic component is brought into contact with tartaric acid to be changed to the tartrate, after the NOX occluding agent coexisting with the catalytic components in one particle is brought into contact with tartaric acid to be changed to the tartrate or after the monolith base material is wash-coated with the NOX occluding agent.
