PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder capable of accurately executing detection of ink in a recording head in a simple structure. SOLUTION: This ink jet recorder comprises a detection electrode 118 for detecting change of a voltage between a recording element 101 and a driving element 102 corresponding to the driving of the recording element 101 via ink on a substrate 100 for an ink jet recording head, a cyclic driving means 19 for driving the recording element by a predetermined driving frequency, a voltage detecting means 20 for cyclically detecting an output voltage of the detection electrode 118 at a timing corresponding to the driving frequency and a condition discriminating means 20 for discriminating a condition in relation to the ejection of the recording head based on the result detected by the voltage detecting means 20. |
