PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an ultrasonic endoscope which can obtain an endoscopic image of the front face of an insert part when inserting in a body or when making a diagnosis by an optical image, and obtain a cross-sectional image all around 360 deg. and the cross section continuously in a longitudinal direction in the case of ultrasonography. SOLUTION: An objective optical system 12 is fixed to the front face of a tip part body 11 provided at an insert part tip part 6 of this ultrasonic endoscope, in such a manner that its center axis is almost parallel with a center axis in the longitudinal direction of the insert part. A rotating ultrasonic vibrator 24 is built in an ultrasonic body 21 of the tip part body 11, and an encoder 29 is connected to the end part of a vibrator shaft 25 fixed to the ultrasonic vibrator 24. A rotating shaft 31 of a motor 30 is connected to a shaft of the encoder 29, and a screw gear 33 with a screw part 33a formed at the outer peripheral surface is fixed as an advancing/retreating mean to a rotating shaft 32 on the opposite side to the rotating shaft 31.
