PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems, such as the restriction on performance, applications and manufacturing processes, which cannot heretofore has been solved with translucent sintered compacts known from heretofore by providing the translucent (fluorescent) sintered compact composed of specific substances different from heretofore and to provide a fluorescent tube and discharge lamp formed by using the translucent (fluorescent) sintered compact composed of the specific substances described above. SOLUTION: The translucent sintered compact mainly composed of a compound having a maneto-plumbite structure or a β-alumina structure exclusive of aluminum oxide and the translucent sintered compact mainly composed of a compound containing a rear earth element which is bivalent in the valence of ions, an aluminum element and an oxygen element as main components, the translucent sintered compact mainly composed of a compound containing an element which is bivalent in the valence of ions exclusive of the rare earth element, the rear earth element and the oxygen element as main components, etc., are provided. |
