PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line-detecting device of a spinning reel, capable of easily performing the constitution of its electric circuit and also detecting the amount of unreeling from its spool or taking up on the spool of the fishing line. SOLUTION: This fishing line-detecting device equipped with an infrared light sensor having a light-generating part of the infrared light and a light- receiving part for receiving the infrared light generated from the above light- generating part, and detecting the fishing line on taking it up on the spool or on unreeling from the spool in a non-contact state and a reflecting body for reflecting the infrared light generated from the light-generating part, is provided by installing the reflecting body on the spool and the infrared light sensor at a fishing rod to which the spinning reel is mounted.
