PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod enabling a fishing operation to be made stably with the end of the rod foot side pressed on the fisherman's body and also enabling the fishing rod itself to stand after inserting it into a relevant hole. SOLUTION: This fishing rod is such that a pad 10 is placed on the end of the foot side of a main rod 1 and a core material 11 is connected insertably into the main rod 1. A relevant fisherman uses this fishing rod as follows: when he is to make a fishing operation, the core material 11 is fixed to the main rod 1 with the core material 11 inserted into the main rod 1, and the main part 13 of the pad 10 is pressed on part of his body to stabilize the fishing rod and an operation such as retrieval is made; meanwhile, in the case of e.g. a fishing on the boat, when the fishing rod is to stand by inserting the main rod 1 into a relevant hole on the side of the boat, the core material 11 is fixed to the main rod 1 with the core material 11 drawn out of the main rod 1, and the core material 11 thus drawn is inserted into the hole to allow the fishing rod to stand.
