PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a prophylactic and therapeutic agent having high safety to the human body, capable of preventing a pimple in a stage of daily skin care and useful for a therapy of the pimple. SOLUTION: This prophylactic and therapeutic agent for the pimple or a horny layer- releasing promoter is composed of one kind selected from the following extracts (A) to (C): (A) one or more kinds of extracts of plant selected from Mallotus japonicus Muell, Arctostaphylos uwa-ursi Sprengel, Trichosanthes kirilowii Maximocz, Achyranthes fauriei Leveille, Smilax glabra Roxburgh, Pinellia ternata Breitenbach, Polygala senega L., Acorus Calamus L., Lonicera japonica Thunb., Sapindus mukurossi Gaertn., Aspalathuslinearis R.
